A savior is coming
A Savior is coming.
Jesus, like Moses, confronts the Pharaohs of the world head-on. But unlike Moses, who led his people out of physical slavery, Christ delivers us from the deeper slavery of sin and death. He offers a freedom no earthly power can take away.
But just as the Israelites had to follow Moses out of Egypt, we too must follow Christ out of the places that enslave us. Advent is a time to examine our lives and ask:
Where do I see Pharaoh in my life?
How is Christ calling me to leave those chains behind and follow Him?
The beauty of Advent is that it’s not just about waiting—it’s about preparing. It’s a time to let Christ shine a light on our lives, exposing the Pharaohs that keep us bound, and asking for the grace to leave Egypt behind.
As we light the candles of the Advent wreath, their growing light reminds us of the Exodus pillar of fire—the very presence of God leading His people to freedom. The same God who delivered the Israelites is coming again, in the person of Jesus, to deliver us.
This Advent, let’s prepare our hearts to follow the new Moses, Jesus Christ. Let us embrace the freedom He offers, leaving behind anything that competes with God’s place in our lives.
Because Christmas isn’t just the celebration of Christ’s birth. It’s the celebration of His mission—to set captives free, to bring light to the darkness, and to lead us into the promised land of eternal life.
