Fire (Part 2): Light
This week we're exploring the prayer "Blessed be God who filled my soul with fire!" Each day we'll reflect on what it means for God to fill us with divine fire, and why we would bless Him for it.
"Blessed be God who filled my soul with fire!"
Fire is light. Light to see by—both ourselves and others.
When God fills our soul with fire, He gives us the ability to see clearly in the darkness. Not just physical darkness, but the spiritual darkness that clouds our judgment, confuses our priorities, and hides truth from our eyes.
A torch held high casts light not just for the one carrying it, but for everyone around. When the divine fire burns within us, we become sources of illumination for others—not because we're trying to impress or instruct, but simply because light can't help but shine.
The flame says no to darkness. It doesn't argue with it or explain why darkness is wrong. It simply shows up, and darkness has to retreat.
This is what happens when God's fire burns in our souls. We don't have to fight every shadow or debate every doubt. We just have to let the light He's given us shine clearly.
The light helps us see ourselves as we truly are—beloved children of God, flawed but redeemed, called to something greater than we could imagine. And it helps us see others the same way, looking past their surface to the image of God within them.
When we bless God for filling us with fire, we're blessing Him for the gift of sight itself. For the ability to see truth, beauty, and goodness even in the midst of a world that often seems dark.
