Who do you look up to? Who are your heroes?
Not just the people that you ‘Follow’ or ‘Like’ or watch because they’re entertaining,, but the men or women that you see and think I want to be like them.
In sports or business, we see our heroes and we want to be like them, so the logical conclusion then is to do what they do.
It’s no different for matters of faith. The Saints and other holy men and women are our heroes, mentors, and guides. If we want to be like these holy individuals, we must do what they do.
However, simply praying the Rosary or attending daily Mass doesn’t guarantee that we’ll become Saints. These actions are a part of our end of the bargain. We must put in the effort to show up with an open heart. By persevering in this effort, we open ourselves up to God’s graces, causing us to move closer to Sainthood.
But, with anything that requires effort, it comes back to the why. Why do we do what we do?
Taking courses in grade school and college isn’t just for the letters on our transcripts, but to actually grow our knowledge and skills. Working out isn’t just for the heck of it, but to be healthier or to perform better.
The Rosary isn’t another checkbox on the to-do list, but a relationship with our Blessed Mother, who can intercede for us and send us graces. Daily Mass isn’t just another appointment, but time to encounter our Lord and Savior and receive His body, blood, soul, and divinity.
Who are some of your favorite Saints? What holy men and women do you respect? Follow them.
