Fruitful Faith (Part 2): Embrace the Word
This week we're exploring Jesus' parable of the sower, focusing on what makes 'good soil' that bears lasting fruit. Each day examines a different element from Luke 8:15.
"But as for the seed that fell on rich soil, they are the ones who, when they have heard the word, embrace it with a generous and good heart, and bear fruit through perseverance." - Luke 8:15
They embrace the word.
Jesus says that equality with God is not something to be grasped.
We live in a culture that's all about acquisition—going out and getting what we want. But faith works differently. Faith is about reception.
The spiritual life is not one of striking out, finding, taking. It's something you receive. Something you welcome.
The soil doesn't chase after the seed. The soil prepares itself and waits. When the seed comes, the soil embraces it, wraps around it, gives it what it needs to grow.
Maybe our job isn't to manufacture spiritual experiences or force spiritual growth. Maybe our job is simply to make space and stay open.
To embrace what God wants to give us, even when it's not what we expected.
