I don’t need to give you chapter and verse for you to recognize who this is about. This image—Christ withdrawing to a quiet place to pray—is woven throughout the Gospels. Solitude and prayer were central to His life.
But could this describe us? Would anyone say something similar about you?
He went up on the mountain by himself to pray.
He rose early every morning to pray.
He never went to bed without first praying.
The Christian life is a journey of becoming Christ-like. There’s a richness and depth to this, yet at its heart, there’s a beautiful simplicity too. To be like Christ, we must live as He did.
And one thing He did, consistently and faithfully, was pray.
So, let us do the same. Pray.
