Kids Shoes
Children are a blessing for many reasons, but one in particular is the tiny insight into how God sees us.
For example, children eventually reach the phase where they want to put on their socks and shoes by themselves, unbuckle the car seat buckle by themselves, scoop up food with a spoon by themselves, and the list goes on.
Oftentimes, parents feel the urge to jump in, grab the socks and shoes, or the buckle, or the spoon with a “here, let me do it!” Why not, right? Parents can do these tasks easier, faster, and better.
But, children will never learn how to do these tasks independently if they never try by themselves. And, that means parents have to patiently stand by, watching their kids fumble, as hard as that might be. The keyword here is patiently.
In a very similar way, God could swoop in and instantly solve all of our problems, big and small. He could kick down the door, convert our hearts, save our souls, and call it a day. But, He doesn’t want to do it that way. He wants us to be a part of His plan. He wants us to learn, and even struggle at times, as He patiently stands by.
For us, that means we must embrace the fact that there are challenges in life — so maybe, just maybe, God is teaching us, guiding us, and preparing us to be adults.
And, whether you’re the Creator of the Universe or the Master-of-Putting-on-Kid-Shoes, we all get to rejoice in the joy of seeing children’s faces light up when they finally ‘get it.’
