Letter of James
In a recent men’s group, we read through the Letter of James. You’ll likely see a few reflections from that study in the coming weeks.
One theme that really stood out to the group was the power of the tongue—how our words can so easily lead to our downfall.
Think about it.
How often do we speak before thinking, reacting in the heat of the moment?
How often do we feel the need to share our opinion, to prove we’re right?
How often do we simply talk too much, listening to ourselves more than we listen to others?
Many saints have warned about the dangers of an unguarded tongue. The more we speak, the more likely we are to say something we’ll regret.
The tongue has the power to bless and to wound, to build up and to tear down.
So today, let’s pause before we speak. Let’s listen more, reflect more, and choose our words with wisdom.
And if you have a moment, read the Letter of James—it just might change the way you speak.
