Logs
When you throw a log on a fire, you’ll notice there’s a moment when the log ceases to only receive heat, and starts to give off heat itself. It not only is being burned, but is in fact burning, itself.
The same is true for our faith. There comes a time when we are not only being consumed by God’s love, but we are in fact radiating it.
But, unlike the log, we can refuse to be warmed and burned. We can close ourselves off, not allowing the fire in. We think the fire will hurt too much, or that we won’t be happy when we are ablaze.
How untrue. We were born out of love, and we were born to love. It’s only in letting ourselves be consumed by this love that we can in turn love fully.
It begins with hearts opened to grace, to letting the love of God work on us and through us.
