Moments Between
Each day, there are many things that we do. There are our responsibilities at home and at work, and then there’s the random little tasks or errands we have to run. Our days are usually punctuated by these actions. When someone asks you, “what did you do today?,” that’s generally what comes to mind.
But, amidst all of these to-do’s, we have gaps. Nowadays, gap time is filled with one thing: smartphones. Any time there is a lull in our day, it’s become instinctual to pull out our phones. It’s like there’s a twinge or impulse to do so. Nevertheless, it’s a habit that must be broken.
The challenge for all of us is to break this habit. Here’s how to begin: when there’s a lull or a few minutes of gap time, simply lift your mind to God. Maybe reflect on a Scripture verse, or say a Hail Mary, or think of Jesus sitting right next to you. Let the Lord fill those moments instead of glowing screens.
