Plan Ahead
Many times, we don't feel like praying. Real groundbreaking statement there, right? We're tired, we're busy, we just want to sleep, or we simply don't feel like it.
And, the reality is — all of this is true. But, that doesn't mean we shouldn't pray. What it means is that we need a plan...or maybe two plans.
We need a Plan A. Let's be honest — few times do we spontaneously feel the need to break out into prayer. Because of this, we need to plan ahead. If we want to make prayer a part of our lives, we need to make room for it, and we need to commit it to our schedule. Treat it like an appointment. Example: Rosary tomorrow at 7 pm. That's Plan A.
It also helps to have a Plan B. Life happens. When the kids are crazy or when work is brutal, our priorities tend to change, and prayer is often one of them. So, when we face adversity of making the decision between praying and not praying...well, you probably know what the answer would be. But, for those instances, we should have a Plan B. If the Rosary is too daunting, pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet. If that's too much, pray an Our Father. No matter how small the prayer is, pray something.
At the end of the day, a tiny prayer is better than no prayer. Now, that's not an excuse to skimp on prayer, but be self aware, be honest, and plan ahead.
