Sacrament of the Present Moment
For Lent this year, my wife and I have been reading Abandonment to Divine Providence. If I had to sum up its central theme so far, it would be this: the Sacrament of the Present Moment.
So often, we assume that what matters most—perhaps even the only thing that matters—are those obviously holy moments: attending Mass, time spent in prayer, or carrying the heavy crosses of life.
Of course, these moments are essential. They shape our faith and draw us closer to God. But what about the small moments? The ordinary, often unnoticed present moments?
These, too, are sacred.
Every moment—whether joyful, mundane, or challenging—is an opportunity to grow in holiness. It is where we live out God's will, responding with love and faithfulness in the daily duties of our vocation.
Don’t overlook the Sacrament of the Present Moment. It’s where grace is waiting.
