Secret Wisdom
“Behold, you desire true sincerity; and secretly you teach me wisdom.” — Psalm 51:8
Why does the Lord secretly teach wisdom?
God doesn’t shout wisdom from the rooftops. He whispers it in the quiet places—in the depths of our hearts.
It’s in the stillness of the interior life that we most often encounter the Lord. Not because He isn’t speaking elsewhere, but because we so often aren’t listening.
“Your inner room” – that’s where the lessons are taught. That’s where the Lord draws close—not with spectacle, but with silence.
The problem is, we don’t live in silence. We live in a world of constant motion and noise—both outside and within.
Even when we quiet our surroundings, the heart can still be noisy: worries, distractions, regrets, endless mental chatter. All of it can drown out the gentle voice of the Spirit.
But when we begin to silence the clamor and retreat inward—truly inward—we discover something beautiful: wisdom has been waiting for us. Secret wisdom. Not hidden from us, but hidden for us, reserved for the sincere of heart who seek God in truth.
So make space. Go to your inner room. Let the world grow quiet for a moment.
And there, in the secret place, let the Lord teach you wisdom.
