“Sundays are for…”
Just for fun—and out of curiosity about what the overlords of the internet had cooked up—I decided to Google:
“Sundays are for…”
The first suggested search made me laugh: “Sundays are for the birds,” with links to Philadelphia Eagles gear. Naturally, football made its appearance more than once. Other popular answers included:
Sundays are for family.
Sundays are for brunch.
And, of course, Sundays are for football—again.
Now, I didn’t exactly expect Google to suggest that Sundays are for Mass or church, although I’m sure those results are out there somewhere.
For most of us, Sundays become a day of relaxation or leisure—a time for catching up on rest, spending time with loved ones, or enjoying hobbies. And those things are good, even important. But as Catholics, we know Sundays have an even deeper purpose.
Sundays are for the Lord.
Mass is the heart of Sunday—not just a duty, but a gift, an opportunity to encounter Christ in the Eucharist and be renewed in His grace.
When we give the Lord His rightful place, we’ll find our Sundays are richer, fuller, and more meaningful than anything the internet could suggest.
