Trust (Part 3 of 5)
St. Faustina’s feast day is October 5th. So this week we're unpacking the prayer Jesus revealed to St. Faustina: "Jesus, I trust in you." Each day we'll reflect on the power and meaning contained in these five simple words.
"Jesus, I trust in you."
Jesus, I trust in you.
Notice it's not "I trust you"—though that matters too. It's "I trust in you."
There's a difference between trusting someone and trusting in someone.
When I trust you, I believe you'll keep your word, show up when you say you will, handle what you've promised. It's external trust—about your actions, your reliability, your character.
But when I trust in you, something deeper happens. I'm not just confident in what you'll do—I'm finding my rest in who you are. I'm not just banking on your promises—I'm taking refuge in your very being.
"Trust in me," Jesus says. Not just "trust my plan" or "trust my timing" or "trust my goodness"—though all of that is included.
Trust in me. Find your security in me. Let me be your foundation, your shelter, your place of rest.
It's the difference between believing someone can help you and actually leaning your full weight on them. Between thinking someone is strong and actually resting in their strength.
When we trust in Jesus, we're not just acknowledging His power from a distance. We're making Him our dwelling place.
We're saying, "I don't just believe in you—I rest in you."
