Vessels
Let me propose an analogy. Our souls are a glass cup -- vessels that can be filled. What we fill them with is up to us.
Often, we fill them up with the spiritual equivalent of toxic sludge. But, our souls are capable of being filled with "living water." As Jesus says, the water that He gives will ensure your never thirst again.
In our analogy, this water not only removes the sludge, it purifies the vessel, it cleans it, even fixes it, and then fills it with the most pure, nourishing liquid imaginable.
This is the gift of Confession -- the well that holds life-giving water, that washes away our sins and fills us with the Lord's grace.
After Confession, our cups are clean and full. What then will we do? Will we pollute and contaminate the waters? Will we act rashly and frenetically, and risk spilling the water?
