What’s In Your Wallet
The other day, I came home to discover that my father-in-law had given each of the kids a small gift—rosary pouches. I assume he had a few extras lying around. Inside each pouch were not just rosaries, but also little prayer cards and medals—simple but meaningful treasures.
The next morning, my 7-year-old came up to me:.
“Dad,” he announced proudly, “I’m going to use this rosary pouch to keep my money!”
I chuckled at the idea. It wasn’t exactly scandalous—just one of those innocent, quirky things kids say. But something about it stuck with me.
What do we carry in our rosary pouches?
Or maybe the better question is: What do we carry in our pockets? Think about it—every day, we make sure we have our essentials: phone, wallet, keys. We wouldn’t leave the house without them. We keep them close because they matter to us.
So where does our faith fit into that picture?
Do we carry it with us the way we do our daily essentials? Is it something we live and breathe—visible in our words, actions, and choices? Or is it tucked away, saved for Sundays, like the nice pants we only wear to Mass?
