Who is this
I’ve recently completed the Gospel of Matthew in my personal prayer life and am now diving into the Gospel of Mark. Much of what I share here is born out of these moments of prayer and reflection. While it might have been more timely to start this new Gospel a few weeks earlier, God’s timing has a way of working, even when ours feels a bit off.
I pray with the Word on Fire Bible, and its introduction to Mark highlights a powerful and central question: “Who is this?”
This question is more than just a theme of St. Mark’s Gospel—it’s a lens through which we can read the entire Bible and an essential part of our own faith journey.
If you think about it, this question—“Who is this?”—is one that every disciple must answer. It’s the heart of our relationship with Christ. The Church teaches that we are created to know, love, and serve God. Today, let’s emphasize that first word: know.
Who is this who drives out demons?
Who calms the winds and the waves?
Who offers His flesh as food for the life of the world?
These are not just questions from the Gospel; they are questions for us today. Each moment of prayer and reflection, every act of faith, brings us closer to the answer.
The journey to know Christ more deeply is one we walk daily. And as we walk, the mystery of who He is unfolds—not all at once, but as a loving invitation to draw closer.
