Worst Case Scenario
Fear can be a crippling factor in our lives. We can be held back by our fears of even the smallest things.
One way to get over our fears is to ask ourselves, “What’s the worst case scenario?”
In most cases, the worst isn’t as bad as we might think.
Losing can hurt and sting. But, whether it’s asking a girl out, trying out for a sports team, or starting a business, the potential gains of pursuing it far outweigh the potential loss of time, money, or hurt pride.
What are our fears currently holding us back from? What are we afraid of? What have we been on the fence about for a long time?
What role does fear play in our faith? In what way? Are we afraid of others judging us for our beliefs?
There is such thing as a healthy fear, though, and that’s the Fear of God. Fearing God is not a quaking kind of fear, but a fear rooted in reverence and obedience to the all-powerful.
When we fear, respect, and obey God, we don’t need to fear men.
“Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; fear him rather who can destroy both body and soul in hell.” Matthew 10:28
Our fear of God helps us to reach Heaven…and avoid Hell, the real worst case scenario.
