Worth the Effort
In Heaven, we will reach an unimaginable level of perfection and fullness in God. We cannot comprehend what this truly means or looks like...not yet, at least. But, currently, it is rather easy to see that there’s a gap between who we are today and who we will be in Heaven. There are things we do now that have no place in Heaven — namely, sin.
Therefore, to enter Heaven, we must undergo a purification process. And, the life we are given is our opportunity to undergo this process.
Today, this point is often overlooked or brushed off. Purification is challenging, and not surprisingly, so is the Catholic faith.
But, does that mean it’s not worth it?
No. All the more we see that anything worth doing, or having, or achieving, requires effort. Success in academics, sports, art, music, sustaining a marriage, and raising children requires effort. It requires that we give all of ourselves.
So many just write off the faith because it gets challenging — it’s easier to give up, it’s easier to ‘stay home.’
But, in the times when we are challenged, double down. Turn with more zeal and vigor to the gifts we’ve been given — prayer, the sacraments, the Church, our brothers and sisters in Christ, and the list goes on. Remember that in the end, our reward infinitely surpasses our challenging efforts.
“I consider that the sufferings of this present time are as nothing compared with the glory to be revealed for us.” Romans 8:18
